What Playnow does
Find your next squad inside Root. Game-specific parties with ranks, roles, regions, crossplay options, and ready checks.
- Game-specific setup
- From open spots to a ready squad
Turn "anyone playing?" into a party. Playnow helps people in your Root community find teammates who want to play the same game, in the same mode, on the same terms.
Browse live parties or create your own. Choose the game, queue, rank range, region, and accepted platforms. Your party title builds itself from your choices, and a description is optional.
Game-specific setup
- Fortnite: Casual or Ranked, Build or Zero Build, Battle Royale or Reload, Bronze through Unreal, and an optional Top 500 qualifier within Unreal. Choose accepted platforms for crossplay parties.
- Counter-Strike 2: separate FACEIT levels/Elo, Premier CS Rating, and Matchmaking ranks, plus preferred team roles.
- Marvel Rivals: its own competitive ranks and Duelist, Vanguard (tank), and Strategist (support) preferences.
- Also supports Rainbow Six Siege, VALORANT, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, League of Legends, Dota 2, Helldivers 2, Minecraft, Deep Rock Galactic, and Sea of Thieves.
From open spots to a ready squad
- See available spots and join or leave a party.
- Run a ready check before starting the session.
- Share lobby details and session plans with party members.
- Choose matching-party alerts when you want them. Alerts are off by default.
- Let old requests expire automatically, keeping discovery focused on active parties.
- Request games, suggest features, and get help in Playnow support on Root.
A warm dark interface, translucent glass panels, and clear game icons keep the focus on finding your next group.
Playnow works within each Root community. Ranks, ratings, regions, and roles are player-reported preferences. Platform and competitive-pool restrictions apply. Playnow does not verify game accounts or automatically join in-game lobbies.

Release notes for owners
- The community owner now sees what's new in Playnow once for each version.
- Playnow keeps its data under 490 MB, inside Root's 500 MB limit. When it gets that full, the oldest sent notifications, closed parties, and game requests go first.
